The white house gets solar!

This isn't the first time though, Jimmy Carter installed 32 solar panels (1979), but when Ronald Reagan was elected he took them down to clean them (1986), and never placed them back. Lets hope Obama keeps them up.

“This project reflects President Obama’s strong commitment to U.S. leadership in solar energy and the jobs it will create here at home,” Chu said in a written statement released by the Energy Department. “Deploying solar energy technologies across the country will help America lead the global economy for years to come.”

"Today, we’re taking another important step. As we move towards a clean energy economy, the White House will lead by example. I’m pleased to announce that by the end of this Spring there will be solar panels that convert sunlight into electricity and a solar water heater on the roof of the White House. It’s been a long time since we’ve had them up there,'' Secretary Chu said at the conference this morning.
